Hi, I’m Emily Beaudoin.
I’m a mountain painter, illustrator and muralist based in Canmore, Alberta. The mountains have always been my muses, and I spend my time hiking, skiing, biking, and paddling into the backcountry in order to paint my experiences. Painting these peaks and their flora and fauna is the best way I know how to express the love and respect I have for them, and I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of it or stop learning from my time spent outside.
I use vibrant colour, texture and intricate details to convey the sense of freedom, adventure and energy I experience while in the mountains, as well as my connection to these wild places. I aim to capture the power and ruthlessness of the wilderness as well as their beauty, fragility and extreme vulnerability.
My hope is that my art will transport people to the ridges, summits and valleys I explore and allow them to feel their own sense of connection and awe. The way I see it, people will only fight to protect the wild places they have a relationship with, and if my art inspires even one person to go outside and want to be a part of the wilderness, I’ll be a happy camper.
