I lived on Vancouver Island for five years while attending the University of Victoria, and was so enthralled by the combination of mountains and ocean on the west coast. I grew up in the Rockies so have always been very drawn to mountains, but the combination of peaks and that much water was entirely new to me. I so enjoyed painting this piece, especially with the long exposure stars spinning overhead.
