Coastal Stars 11x14" Print

This piece was inspired by the many surfing trips I took when I lived on Vancouver Island. One of my fondest memories was flying up to Tofino with my old university roommate who was training for his pilots license and needed to rack up a bunch of hours flying Cessna planes. He called me out of the blue and I skipped my evening class and headed to the airport. We packed the tiny plane with sleeping bags and surfboards and headed to Long Beach, where we camped out under a driftwood log structure and surfed as the sun rose the next morning. That night the sun set with such a fiery blast of colour, and the stars were unreal. The tide had gone out and there was a thin layer of water on the beach, and the stars were reflected on the sand. It felt like we were floating in space, with no idea where the beach ended and the sky began. It was one of the most magical experiences of my life, and painting this scene brought me right back to it.

This 11x14” print comes unframed, and is packaged in a compostable cellophane bag.
