My sister is a wildlife biologist who studies caribou, so this piece is dedicated to her.
I was drawn to the Yukon in the fall, that window of time when caribou are shedding the velvet off their antlers, transforming themselves for the rut. The colours up there in autumn are just gorgeous, burnt orange and amber and gold, and I loved layering that environment in around the legs and antlers.
This 20×40” original painting is acrylic and aerosol on a 1.5” gallery depth cradled birch panel, and will bring the sights and scents of fall into your home.
