Loons 11x14" Print

CA$40.00

When I was growing up my Dad used to take my sister and I to these cabins in BC for summer vacation. We called it Turtle Island, because the lake was absolutely full of painted turtles, which delighted us to no end. The three of us would wake up early each morning, wrap a stack of toast in a napkin, and head down to the water to paddle a canoe out as the sun rose, looking for wildlife. There was a pair of loons on the lake that returned every year, and we would hear them calling through the golden mist as we paddled softly past logs covered in sunning turtles.

I thought about those still, magical mornings a lot while I worked on this piece. I really wanted to capture the mist illuminated by the sunrise, and the silent grace of loons as they hold court over their waters. This is the final painting I created for the show, and it’s extra special to me.

This 11x14” print comes unframed, and is packaged in a compostable cellophane bag.
