I drew this view of Elk Lakes while on a winter hut trip with some dear friends last winter. The ski in was pretty hilarious because they were doing MAJOR electrical line construction, which just happened to be directly over the trail to the hut. We spent hours carefully climbing over huge ridges and dugouts in the snow, and avoiding beeping construction equipment. Needless to say, arriving at the peaceful and very snowy hut was a great relief. We went for a skin up above the lakes and were treated to this spectacular view, and I worked on this piece for the rest of the weekend between skis, stoking the fire, making group meals.
