Dancing Wolves 30x48" Original

Last year I painted a mural at the Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary, and spent my nights sleeping in a camper van listening to the wolfdogs howl. It was one of those experiences that stays with you, and it left me with a very soft spot for wolves that I don't think is going anywhere.

This is the feature piece for the Kin & Glow collection, and I wanted to capture this incredibly tender moment where the male wolf is courting the female, that specific quality of attention he's giving her, leaning in just slightly, completely focused, his whole body language soft and adoring. Wolves are so often painted as fierce or mythic, and they are those things, but they're also this.

The teal and gold background felt like the right world for them, cool and warm at once, like the last light before dark.

This 30×48” original painting is acrylic and aerosol on a 1.5” gallery depth cradled birch panel.
