I love painting round panels- it makes composing the image feel fresh and different, and they add a really cool twist to your traditional square or rectangular home decor. This piece is twenty-four inches across, misty blue and wintry, with a mountain goat that looks like he’s been standing on that ridge long enough to have formed some strong opinions about things.
Mountain goats are my mom’s favourite animal, which definitely factored into me wanting to paint one for this show. I’ve been lucky enough to encounter them several times in the alpine and they always fascinate me with their windswept, unruffled and wise personalities.
